- Flatworld as an idea was conceived in 1999 as Outsource2india, established in 2004 in the US and India as Flatworld solutions Inc., and has impacted over 10,000+ customers and over 3000+ employees in a span of 15 years.

1. Do unto others what you want them to do unto you. Respect, empathise, support, cooperate, partner are the operative part of your daily life. Smile and spread the cheer, you spend close to 160+ hours right here @ work every month.
2. Clothes make the man, so they say! Dressed for work means you have free collars or rolled up sleeves or for others a fancy blazer and spanking white shirts /trousers. Anything short and you may end up as the odd one out. We do have special days to celebrate India and its colourful culture.
3. When you work with us we empower you with tools and technology, this will include access to software programs and laptops, mobile phones and internet dongles. All these are for your privileged use when you are @work. Look out for your ‘man Friday’ in the IT department; you may need to reach out to him/her for a changeover of devices or a handover of devices when you choose to move out of the Flatworld family.
4. We are a 100% software compliant organisation and we dependent on each of our employees too to make sure unnecessary and non-compliant software are not downloaded into your devices. We do have firewall protocols etc, but we also know a willing employee is the best defence in software compliance.
5. We love our teams to be socially active, even if it’s on the web. However social media, personal calls and mails are to be on a need- to – do basis; which means updating LinkedIn, or Instagram is a standard out-of-office hours hobby!
6. Shh! Competition is watching. While you are co-working with teams @ Flatworld it’s possible that you will receive client confidential information or specialised processes of Flatworld Solutions. We would love for you to keep all that you do back at office safely stored as advised. Enjoy your personal time at home and allow for the data safety of your company to be secured.
7. Employees must be alert and aware of any potential dangers to themselves or their co-workers. We encourage each employee to take every precaution to ensure that your surroundings are safe and secure. Guard personal belongings and company property. Visitors should be escorted at all times. Report any suspicious activity to a supervisor immediately.
8. In the event of an emergency, dial 9 from the Phone Extension that is available immediately. If you hear a fire alarm or other emergency alert system, proceed quickly and calmly to the nearest exit / Assembly Point. Kindly use the STAIRS only. Once the building has been evacuated, HR / Admin may authorize employees to re-enter after confirming the attendance / Head Count.

Appointment:
At Flatworld you would have been through the pre-screening process plus written tests and passed the final selection rounds before finally sitting down for salary negotiations. We are glad it turned favourable and we work together for a season. We value your decision to join the 15-year-old company as its sets sights on a greater growth trajectory.
You would receive a complete docket on joining, which includes an Appointment letter with all terms, a IT policy handbook and a Key personnel sheet. You would be slotted in the following status at the time of joining.
Probation: If you are new, the team will love to know you and your skill sets. We love the rising stars and will ensure you quickly find your feet and get ready for challenges on the job. Many star performers have risen from these ranks and handle Million-dollar projects annually. Get into the groove and ensure your talent gets spotted inside 180 days… A huge opportunity awaits you post that!

Grounds for losing the above Employment Status
We empower and train all Directors, Managers, Supervisors and Employees so that each should interact with mutual respect and common courtesy. As such from time to time we need to address people issues and have set mutual benchmarks so that all are evaluated fairly
The company reserves the right to discipline and/or terminate any employee who violates company polices, practices or rules of conduct. The following actions are unacceptable and considered grounds for disciplinary action. It represents a sample list only.
- Engaging in acts of discrimination or harassment in the workplace;
- Possessing, distributing or being under the influence of illicit controlled substances;
- Unauthorized use/removal/damage of company property, equipment, devices or assets;
- Falsification, misrepresentation or omission of information, documents or records;
- Insubordination or refusal to comply with directives;
- Poor performance and insubordination
- Excessive or unexcused absenteeism or tardiness;
- Disclosing confidential or proprietary company information without permission;
- Illegal or violent activity inside and outside office premises;
- Possessing any weapons on premises;
- Disregard for safety and security procedures;
- Disparaging or disrespecting supervisors and/or co-workers.
The company reserves the right to determine the severity and extent of any disciplinary action based on the circumstances of each case. We have rarely had the need to invoke these provisions, for us we treat everyone across hierarchy as family unless there are very major transgressions that cannot be remediated.
Termination/Resignation
Employment with the company is on an at-will basis and may be terminated voluntarily or involuntarily at any time by both parties for pre-agreed reasons as scheduled in the appointment letter.
Upon termination/resignation,
An employee is required:
- to continue to work until the last scheduled day of employment;
- to turn in all reports and paperwork required to be completed by the employee when due and no later than the last day of work;
- to return all files, documents, equipment, keys, access cards, software or other property belonging to the company that are in the employee’s possession, custody or control, and turn in all passwords to his/her supervisor;
- to participate in an exit interview and let us know how we could have been better employers
Flatworld will ensure all statutory payments are made, all salaries are credited and a letter of Work experience issued based on last done review.
Work Vs Life @Flatworld
We celebrate our relationship by respecting each other’s time. If all employees turn up on time, imagine the increase in productivity and stress free lives everyone will experience. Absenteeism is a habit you are discouraged to bring into this company. It should always be “LEAVE WITH A CAUSE’, stay at home for a reason. We also love for you to use your swanky phones to let your leaders know if you are sick, in an emergency or family issues and we honour and support our teams through the tough times.
Here is the math for how you can balance work and life.
Earned Leave: You have 13 days of earned leave per year, the only caveats being you need to enable your supervisor to back up for you, so he needs to know your plans 10 days ahead.
Family time for most of you requires longer holidays, and we at Flatworld ensure you get an accrued 30 days in a year from previous years.
You could use up to 13 days of your accrued earned leave at a time to enjoy personal commitments or just laze around and finish couple of books or climb the Western Ghats.
Celebrate life, we encourage it.
Sick / Casual Leave: This is something we wish you never need to use, we always wish our colleagues remain hale and hearty all though the year. In the unlikely event you fall sick, don’t panic, you could use 12 paid leaves over a calendar year to rest and revert back to good health. Just ensure you intimate in writing to your supervisor so that client work continues round the clock. Do check with HR on your Health care benefits in case you need hospitalisation.
Maternity & Paternity leave : When you have a new entrant to your family, we know those moments require lots of rest, planning and personal time. As an organisation we celebrate parenthood and ensure full maternity benefits of 6 months are passed on to expectant mothers.
As the new age father, handling a little more responsibility during childbirth, we give 7 days of paid paternity leave so as to enable the father partake of the joy and celebrate the occasion.
Company Paid Holidays: Over the year as the nation celebrates its founding days and people celebrate festivals, @ Flatworld we extend 10 holidays on most important days as listed below so that we could spend time with family and resetting our focus. We acknowledge other religious festivals and offer a restricted holiday for those celebrating them, our way of ensuring parity for all.
The company observes the following 10 holidays in a Calendar Year.
New Year’s Day, Republic Day, Good Friday, May Day, Independence Day,
Ganesh Chaturthi, Gandhi Jayanti, Deepavali, Kannada Rajyotsava, Christmas Day
Exam Leave : Study whilst at work is a great task in itself. We offer incentives of Rs.5000 and a 10 day Study holiday period to encourage those who want to skill themselves up the ladder. Do take prior approvals and suggestions on type of courses from your mentors! HR will list out a plan for your education and growth
Leave of Absence: Life has unplanned situations and those call for extreme measures. We acknowledge genuine claims and allow for absence from work but will classify those holidays as ‘Unpaid’ so as to bear parity with all employees. If the period of absence is long, then continuation of employee benefits may be reviewed as the law of the land so decides.

All employees at Flatworld will compulsorily have Health insurance of either government or private sector based on the Salary bracket. Other benefits include Accident Insurance, Life Term insurance, provident fund etc. While you set your sights on performance, it’s our endeavour that you have most bases covered.
Health Insurance
Full time employees are covered from their date of joining in any one of Flatworld Health care programs. Employees who fall under the ESI wages will be covered under ESI Insurance Coverage and other Employees will come under the Group Medical Coverage by a private insurer. For Coverage details, do contact HR / Admin Team, you will be surprised that even pregnancy and childbirth costs are covered. Options of insuring immediate family are also offered as an add-on benefit.
Group Personal Accident Insurance: All Employees are covered under this Insurance with 3 times the annual CTC as sum assured in the event of unforeseen eventuality.
Group Term Life: All Employees are covered under this Insurance with 3 times the annual CTC as sum assured in the event of unforeseen eventuality under natural circumstances.
Retirement Plan
As we celebrate life together at Flatworld, government rules dictate that retirement begins from the 59th birthday!! So, all employees on the rolls of Flatworld Solutions will be discharged from service on attaining the age of 58 years. All benefits and accruals due will be disbursed within 30 working days.
We do have option for the really talented and those at director level positions who can continue to work in Flatworld Solutions either on a 180-day consultancy basis renewable mutually or hold an honorary position.
Provident Fund and Gratuity
Flatworld Solutions is registered with the Provident Fund Dept. Govt. of India. A standard deduction as accounted in the salary of each employee along with an equal contribution from the employer deposited every month. Employees can avail of all facilities as allowed by rules governing PF in India.
Flatworld Solutions offers employees the provision of gratuity that ensures a sizeable sum of money accrues to the employees once he/she completes 5 years of continuous service. The gratuity is payable along with the Employees Final Settlement.
